That's right, greenhouse gas emissions are still rising: up 3% in 2007 from 2006, in part thanks to increased emissions from developing countries--China and India foremost among them. The US is still a major culprit, with its emissions up 2% after dropping slightly the previous year. But unless quickly-growing Kyoto-non-signatories like China and India quickly do something to change their greenhouse gas policies, global emissions will continue to rise regardless.
Of course, there is one thing that anyone, from any country, can do right now to mitigate their own carbon emissions impact: offset through Carbonfund.org.
