Carbonfund.org donors Craig and Layla Baird are living a "green year", which means that each day for a year they're doing something to go green. The British Columbian couple reached Day 102 on Friday and chose that day to use Carbonfund.org's calculators to offset their carbon footprint.
"No matter what Layla and I do, unless we completely go off the grid and not go into civilization at all for anything, we are going to have a carbon footprint," Craig wrote in their blog. "As a result, Layla and I have decided to find a way to ensure that we can offset what we do by helping the environment, rather than taking something away from it."
From Earth Day 2008 to now, they've cut their carbon footprint from 10.332 metric to 1.882 metric tons, a more than 80% reduction. Truly, they are reducing what they can and offsetting what they can't, and we applaud them for it.
