The Climate Registry is attracting dozens of companies who will, for the first time, voluntarily report their carbon emissions this summer, according to Reuters.
Russell noted in his last post that businesses are an essential piece of the climate change puzzle, as they are responsible for much of the world's driving/burning/emitting/building/etc. Smart businesspeople know carbon emissions regulation is on its way and are making preparations now.
Reporting greenhouse gas emissions is the first step on the path to energy efficiency: once a baseline is known, reductions can be planned, executed, and measured.Marguerite Downey, environmental specialist for the USPS, said the quasi-governmental federal agency is preparing for what "for the inevitable federal mandate" by joining The Climate Registry.
"That way we can hit the ground running," she said.

If every person in the uk did nothing for a full year we produce over 17.5 million tonnes of carbon just by breathing out when willpeople realise we are being took for a ride. If the earth was not continually warming /cooling we would still be in the last ice age the atmosphere changes get used to it. and a final thought if five people cycled fives miles on push bikes they would produce more carbon emmissions than the same journey took by five people in one land rover ( td4)

I would advise you to take time to grasp the significance of 1985...Margeret Thather approached the Royal Society and told them if they could link Carbon Emmissions to global warming, there would be money on the table...they have... But this science is in direct contradiction to all scientific data pre-1985. The speed of change in climate today is a direct result of the atmospheric changes since the Krakatoa eruption. This current warming began in 1975 hence the hot summer of 1976. The carbon offsetting wll destroy any hopes of the African nations lifting themselves out of poverty. They are n such poverty becaue thier land is in the hands of the capitalist nations growing the foods for the supermarkets, especialy 'Walmart'. This began in the 1950's and is the cause of all the famines Africa has suffered especialy so during the 1970's and 1980's continuing today. The Earth is also warming from the inside due to the oil extraction, which acts as the cooling-system. 'Carbon as cause' covers the real truth behind the problems this world is suffering. the nexus of our climate's control...is the Sun and its efect on the Oceans... Life.
